Description
We are proud to offer a direct replacement 3-position gas regulator for the CZ Bren 2S and MS. Our Optimized Gas Regulator Assembly includes both a new Body and Piston, both carefully tuned to provide absolute reliability and consistent ejection in a specific caliber and barrel length. Each Gas Regulator Body features three different gas settings/pressures/positions: low, medium, and high. These three settings operate as follows:
1 | Low: Ideal for shooting suppressed, or with extremely high pressure ammunition.
2 | Med: Standard operating position, optimized for consistent ejection with commercially available ammunition.
3 | High: When you need more gas to operate the action. Possible High setting scenarios include running steel cased ammunition in 5.56 models, running lower pressure ammunition such as subsonic in 7.62×39 models, or cycling extremely dirty/fouled actions in any model.
Strategically placed holes in the regulator knob section allow it to be rotated by hand or with a loose 5.56/7.62 round, this facilitates gas setting changes when using extended handguards on 11″ and 14″ Bren 2 models. Our Gas Piston is precisely machined to fit within the Gas Regulator body; we hold the tolerance between these two components at 0.0005″ or less. Our Gas Pistons feature a high performance electroless nickel coating which not only reduces friction between the Piston and Regulator, it also helps the assembly to shed carbon deposits which in our testing has reduced maintenance by increasing the time between cleaning intervals when compared to the factory components.
Please use the drop down menus above to select your specific caliber and barrel length. If your Bren 2 has been modified with a barrel length not listed please contact us directly and we can help you select a regulator assembly for your specific configuration.
NOTE: Our regulators are compatible with all HBI Gen 2 handguards as well as factory/oem handguards. These regulators are not compatible with HBI Gen 1 handguards (10.8″).

Runs flawlessly, about 1k rds thru it using the smallest gas port. Ejects about 3:00. On my 14″ x39. Craftsmanship top notch. Only complaint I have is the design of the head. When hot is a bit hard to manipulate by hand, so I gotta get a loose Rd to turn it. Kinda wish It had a head design like the original so I won’t need a loose Rd to turn it. Thanks hbi for supporting the bren!

I should say this is with hbi stiffer spring, not stock spring

Bren2 , 11” .556 (suppressed w/YHM turbok)
I was a early adopter of the bren2, and with in weeks drilled the “off setting out” for a usable option. It’s ran flawlessly for years, and approaching 5 digits through it. This new gas adjustment, and “buffer/piston” is great. I also got the V2 hand guard.
Reliable ejection patterns, soft shooting, locks back at empty. They did their home work for sure. Also, the cost is almost nothing, and a very easy and simple swap. Ran 55, and 62 grain, new, reman, and steel case. It just ran, and all I wanted it to do. Well done again HBI. Well done.

Works perfectly, on both BREN’s. 11” & 14”, HBI springs, suppressed and open didn’t matter on position 1 with NATO pressure ammo. Goes to show the gun is seriously over-gassed out of the box.

I’m running a 14” 7.62×39 with the HBI spring. Before installing the new port I was getting 1 o’clock ejection even with the stiffer HBI spring. After installing the HBI regulator, the amount of gas and therefore the ejection pattern can now be controlled with the simple settings on the HBI regulator. Machining and fit are high quality, I have about 500 rounds through it so far. Hat tip to HBI for fixing the major issue on this platform!

Bought one of these for my 8” bren 2 which I’ve always run suppressed and it’s what the Bren needed to be like from the factory. I run it on setting 1 and it’s so soft shooting now and has been 100% reliable over hundreds of rounds so far.

If used with the HBI spring it works great and I no longer get all the usual CZ bren 2 malfunctions. 7.62×39 11″.

Got this on my 11” SBR, the brass ejecting at 3 oclock instead of 1 and 2, way less gassy than it was before. Still keep the softness of recoil. This is worth every penny.

I took advantage of the July 4th sale and bought two of these, one for my 8″ barrel “that I shoot suppressed 99% of the time” and another for my 11″ that I may shoot suppressed 50% of the time. Both are chambered in the .223 and both are using the HBI recoil spring. I’ve only had a chance to shoot the 8″ barrel. Ammo used was Red Army .223 55 GR FMJ. Regulator setting was on 1. Suppressor used was SilencerCo Specwar 7.62. I shot 40 rounds and everything functioned perfect and ejection distance was in the 5′-8′ range and location was between 2 and 3 o’clock. I have not shot it unsuppressed as it’s rather loud even with muffs on. FWIW, I don’t need muffs when shooting suppressed. Soon I’ll report on the 11″ barrel, with and without the suppressor.

This is my follow up review on the regulator for the 11″ barrel. Ammo and suppressor was the same as above and I had the HBI spring in. First I shot suppressed with regulator setting on 1 and it functioned perfect with distance and direction both the same as above with the 8″ barrel. When I shot unsuppressed with regulator on 1 the Bren 2 would almost eject but wouldn’t. I then switched to setting 2 unsuppressed and had 100% ejection with cases coming out a distance of 3 – 4′ and direction was 2 – 3 o’clock. The distance was noticeably shorter than the 8″ barrel Bren 2. I did not shoot any other way. The regulator performs as I expected and proves “to me” this product does what it is intended to do. Next time I’ll shoot the 11″ barrel unsuppressed on all three setting to see how it performs and it the recoil is significantly different.

I have an 11 inch 7.62×39 rifle. Cases before the regulator were at 1 o’clock and I often experienced stovepipes. Now the rounds eject at 3 o’clock and in a nice tight pile.
Very pleased.
