Description

Direct mount your choice of optic to the dust cover on your AK/AKM pattern rifle using our low profile steel mounts. Our mounts are machined to mate to a wide variety of dust covers with a top radius between 8-11mm. This includes covers with ribs and stiffening features made in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Yugo and/or produced by WBP, PSA, Zastava, Cugir/Century, Arsenal, and many others. Our mounts are designed to be WELDED onto the top cover. Each mount features several visual alignment features that allows an experienced gunsmith or fabricator to position the mount inline with the factory front and rear sight line, no need for additional fixtures. This type of work is better suited for more experienced builders or fabricators; the art of fitting AKM dust covers for iron sights has been known for some time, and our optic plates fill the gap left for those desiring to direct mount red dots.

NOTE 1: Our mounts are designed to fit anywhere on the top crest of the dust cover, giving you the ultimate flexibility in building. The fore/aft position will be application specific. We have found that stitch welding using TIG process provides minimal warp and reliable results. Back purging helps but is not required. Ultimate weld process and locations may be unique to each installation.

NOTE 2: We have seen our mounts used to direct mount optics on other platforms such as HK 91/93, MP5, and FAL. Our mounts have also been welded directly to AKM trunnions (by removing the radius bridge on the bottom).
