Description
The HBI Prostock 16″ 1913 Rifle Length handguard for the Ruger SFAR is a dedicated drop in/direct fit replacement for the factory handguard on 16″ barrel SFAR models. Our Prostock handguards fill in some gaps left by the skeletonized OEM handguard, increasing rigidity while at the same time shielding the user from the gas system and offering more clearance to the regulator for adjustment. This “1913” handguard features an integrated 7 slot 1913 rail on the bottom of the handguard near the muzzle that can be used either as a hand stop or for mounting of bipod or other 1913 accessories. PEQ-15/DBAL type IR sight systems and white lights as well as peripheral switches are easily mounted out front above your support hand thanks to a full length continuous 1913/picatinny top rail and 9/3 o’clock MLOK slots at the muzzle. Weight of the OEM handguard(s) is 8.8-9.4oz depending on model; installed weight of our Prostock 1913 Rifle Length handguard is 14.8oz. With the significant increase in rigidity and additional functionality we feel the extra 5oz is absolutely worth it.
The OEM ejection port cover is retained, the OEM gas block and adjustment tools are retained, even the factory barrel nut is retained. Our handguard was designed from the ground up as a dedicated replacement for the Ruger SFAR and is not meant for any other rifles. The gas block window on this model is primarily designed for 16″ rifles, but can also be used on 20″ models (20″ barrel gas block is accessed through the front of the handguard, not side).
