Description
Use this tool to remove the barrel nut on your CZ Scorpion Micro/Pistol/Carbine. All tools are made from heat treated 4140 chromoly steel, then zinc plated for long term corrosion resistance. We have three dedicated tools available, please use the drop down menu to select from:
CZ Scorpion Evo 3 Pistol (This is for 7.8″ barrel pistol models)
CZ Scorpion 3 Plus Pistol (This is for 3 Plus Micro and Pistol models)
CZ Scorpion Carbine (This is for 16″ barrel models only, including Evo 3 carbines, 3 Plus carbines, and faux suppressor models)
Please note that the torque spec for barrel nuts on factory handguards is 16 ft*lbs or about 20 Nm. Over torquing the barrel nut can cause the factory handguard to crack or split.
Designed and Manufactured completely in USA.
Gunsmith Installation Recommended for All Parts.

They aren’t joking when you hear people say that CZ puts a ton of thread-locker on those barrel nuts. After rounding off the corners of the handguard retaining nut with an adjustable wrench this was a wonderful solution.
The problem with a wrench is, you can’t quite get it around 180 degrees and the shoulders of the handguard push it forward off the nut. With this tool I could turn it 45 degrees, flip the tool, and turn it again until it was far enough off to get a wider radius on it. Thanks HBI for making a great tool!

The design of this barrel nut removal tool appears to be better than the other one that is currently available. This pistol has been a bit of a hard one to work on, so I thought for sure that I would encounter a lot of factory-installed thread lock compound. However, to my amazement, there was very little. However, I was ready with this tool and a 1/2″ drive breaker bar. Be sure to follow the video, and you can’t go wrong. As has been mentioned, until the nut has been turned down the barrel a fair amount, you get about 1/4 turn at a time, and then have to reposition the wrench/breaker bar combo. Eventually, the nut comes off, no muss, no fuss. This tool is a very useful design and is quite helpful. Thanks, HB Industries.

Simply a need for anyone making any kind of work on their Scorpion. There is no better tool for the job on the sticky nut…

Another great product from an excellent company. Works like a charm. Must have if replacing the handguard!

Served its purpose but deformed after one slip making accuracy critical for each subsequent rotation. One time use tool because of this. The distance from the barrel nut to the wrench increases the chance of slipping. This can be eliminated with an inline tool offered by other companies but cost $45.

The job is always easier when you use the right tools. Lock your Scorpion in a vise and put this to work. Took me 5 mins to remove everything. Awesome!

Okay, first of all… nicely done HB! This is by far the best, albeit simple, after market tools I’ve come across. The craftsmanship is superbly done. It, meaning the welds, honestly look far more suited for a high-end vehicle restoration vs a barrel nut tool. For the average owner, those not too snobbish to use what works as opposed to branding, I highly recommend this tool. You cannot find a better bang for your buck!

This tool is simply the best on the market. Very pleased by the craftsmanship. Well done HB!

Worked for me! CZ drowns everything in locktite! CA debonder helps. With this tool I was able to remove my barrel nut without a vice, but a vice would have been nice!

Literally is impossible change the handguard without this tool if you have no vice. Perfect solution.

Another no brainer. If you need to remove that darn barrel nut, you just need this thing. It’s amazing how well locked up those threads are. You’ll ask yourself “I’m turning the right way, right?” Get this. You need it. Albeit, likely only once.

Received this tool in less than 48 hrs. from the time it was ordered – well done HBI. I put it to use as soon as it arrived and have to say that it worked splendidly. It seems to be very nicely made and well suited to the task at hand.

This tool is very well made. The barrel nut on my carbine had come loose, and the handguard was rattling around. I easily spun the nut the rest of the way off by hand. There was not trace of thread locker on mine, contrary to others’ experiences that I’ve read. I completely removed the handguard to inspect for any damage or other issues, and then applied some blue threadlocker to the barrel threads and reinstalled the handguard and nut. The job was quite easy, but would be impossible without a tool like this.

Tool works and is well made but could of been designed better..Without a vice good luck getting the nut off because of the gallon of loctite CZ uses..It still can be done but the nut and original hand guard go a little dinged up..Otherwise every other product is excellent..I just recommend a vice if possible…

I’ve got a story about the level of customer service you get from a company that sells great products……so I ordered the tool, so that I can maybe paint my barrel. Its needed to get the barrel nut off to remove the handguard. It had been out of stock, but I suddenly found it in stock and ordered right away. Well, in my haste I think I entered the wrong address for shipping by one digit : ( When I noticed the post office about to send it back, I reached out to the sales team at hbi and they were able to rectify the problem i created. Now, I can paint my barrel this weekend! Great stuff, great company!

Without this tool. I would have never gotten the barrel nut off. Even with this tool and a vice, I thought I was going to break the firearm in the process. However, all is well and a new HB Industries aluminum handguard is installed.

Was your barrel nut installed by a silverback gorilla at the factory? Did said gorilla use rockset like it was going out of style? If you answered yes to either of these questions, the CZ Scorpion Pistol Barrel Nut Tool is the answer to your problems! In all seriousness, after saying “yeah I don’t need it. I’ll just throw it in my vice and take care of the barrel nut with an adjustable wrench.” I quickly realized that I was wrong. This barrel nut had me defeated and questioning if I had enough torque in my hands to open a door knob afterward. Thankfully, my buddy had one of these that I borrowed and my only regret is I did not buy one myself when ordering other HBI products. As soon as these come back in stock, HBI can count on me purchasing one. If you need to take your barrel nut off for any aftermarket barrels, hand guards, etc., you will NEED this product.

Do yourself a favor and buy it. Right tool for the right job. And don’t forget to scrub off the excess lock tight on your threads.

Its a no brainer unless its out of stock. This should just be included with every piece and increase the price. Not being able to get one negates the change and delays the work…..

Just buy this. Even if you never plan to take the handguard off. Buy it anyway. There will come a time, and it will be the best 12 dollars you forgot you spent. Also, HB customer service is amazing.

In my experience as a power sports mechanic you don’t buy tools made of cheap softer metal than the hard steel parts you use them on. My barrel nut was very tight and the tool deformed making it useless. It’s not made to a close tolerance to begin with. You get what you pay for. Snap-on it’s not. Good luck.

Do yourself a favor and buy this tool. I had to use heat from torch a breaker bar . Watch the video. In my view, this is a right tool for the right job. I then had to wire brushed the excess thread locker. Threw away the cheese grater and tool when finished. For the expense of $12.50 , it is worth the cost to remove the nut.

This product is fantastic. High quality, easy to install, and fixed the only complaint I had with the Scorpion (factory safety). Also shoutout to HB Industries in general; I ordered the mini AK selector, decided the next day I wanted the full size. They responded extremely quickly, and made the process of getting the part I wanted easy and seamless. Also, extremely fast shipping. Will definitely be ordering more from these guys.

Great Company to do business with I have ordered several parts for my EVO S1 including this Barrel Nut Tool, Worked great to remove the barrel nut but when trying to install the Paske Sapper handguard the barrel nut was below the edge of the handguard where it could not be turned anymore with the tool and i still have about a 1/8 inch of slack to close so ended up ordering a Socket style barrel nut tool to finish the install
